Quick Examples
15% of 200
Answer: 30
30 out of 200
Answer: 15%
100 to 120
Answer: 20% increase
How It Works
Percent means “out of 100”. So 15% means 15 out of every 100.
Example: Sarah wants to find 15% of 200. She does 200 x 15 / 100. The answer is 30.
Example: Raj buys a $120 jacket with 25% off. 25% of 120 is 30, so the discount is $30 and he pays $90.
Example: Mia’s hourly pay goes from $25 to $26. The difference is $1. One dollar compared with $25 is 4%, so her pay went up by 4%.
